Why NIfty Fifty?

Who are we?

The group Nifty-Fifty is dedicated solely to photography taken with a 50mm prime lens. f1.0, f1.2, f1.4, f1.8, f2.8, macro, reverse mount macro... whatever you have done with your a 50mm prime, we want to see it! We do not discriminate against camera brands, film or digital, as long as your wielding a 50mm lens.

We strictly enforce this submission guideline.

Our group was started on January 13th, 2010 and has since grown to over 90 members, 100 watchers, and over 2000 page views.


Weekly Member Features

Each week, we feature one of our members on our home page. In the feature we include a little something as to why the artist has caught our attention, and include multiple examples of their work. Aside from the front page exposure of the artists, we offer that person to become a "contributor". However, in our world, we don't have contributors... we have f-stops.

Moderator = f1.4
Contributor = f1.8
Members = f2.8 (this is just Club House lingo since you can not change the name of Members)


Debut Contest

We are currently having a contests, and noon (EST) today marks 2 weeks left to submit entries. The theme is open to any 50mm prime photography.

To participate, you must be a member.
Only one entry per person.
Photography only.
Textures and some creative editing is acceptable... however all out manipulation is not.

Contest ends Sunday, February 28th @ 12:00pm

We are offering multiple journal and blog features. Better than that, we currently have a years worth of DA premium memberships to the 1st place winner. We will also offer the opportunity for the f2.8 winners to move up to f1.8 status within the group! Winners will be chosen by popular vote from those that participated within the contest.
