Goodbye Nikon D200 + Pass on 7D + Yosemite 2010

Journal Entry: Sun Nov 1, 2009, 4:51 PM

Well, today I said goodbye to my Nikon D200. I sold it and will be selling off a 18-200mm VR lens and maybe my D40 body as needed so that I can get me a new camera.

I know this may be a let down to some of my peers, but I will not be taking the plunge into the Canon lineup. Whats funny is that a Canon shooter got all in my grill about why i was liking it and little did he know, he talked me into my original idea for upgrade, and that is to go with the Nikon D300s. Actually it wasn't all him, there is an article in this months Digital Photo Pro called "Comparing Photosites". I may cut a financial corner and go with a used D300 depending on what I sell and how soon.

Also, there is a chance I may be taking a trip with ~sailrsandy to Yosemite in May of 2010. So with that being said... anyone have the photographers guide to touring Yosemite??? It's going to be my responsibility for navigating us to all "the spots"... so any input would be spectacular, particularly from those that have been.

Oh, and go check out =vxside if he is not on your watch list already, he has some great work in his gallery! He recommended I try a tilt shift edit in PS for my fisheye shot of Grand Central, and I am glad I did... because the whole use of Gradient tool is really going to make a nice edition to my editing skills.... came in particularly useful in balancing out the light in a water shot I did recently, called Passage to Blue.

Hey you Canon Shooters...

Journal Entry: Wed Oct 28, 2009, 2:17 PM

If I were to convert to Canon 7D, what lenses do you recommend? they offer the 28-135mm kit lens or body only... not sure if the 28-135 is worth getting or not. the two no brainers for me are the 50mm f1.8, and Sigma 10-20 f4-5.6.

Has anyone ventured into the 15-85mm that Canon offers?? I ask because the Nikon 16-85mm VR is a great lens, the focal range was perfect.

There is a good possibility...Canon 7D

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 24, 2009, 4:47 AM

There is a terribly good possibility that I may convert from Nikon to Canon.

Anyone recently acquire a Canon 7D and able to tell me what they think of it?

Help Spread the Word & Contest Winners

Journal Entry: Sun Sep 6, 2009, 6:39 AM

The more participants, the more fun. So I am hoping the people who watch me, will participate and / or will repost this information about *OneWordPrompt
There latest news article only had like 5 favorites, and that saddens me since this type of club is such a great addition to the DEeviantART community.

:icononewordprompt:
Stuck for ideas?
Can't seem to work your way around an art block?
Need that little push forward to help you create something?
Then you've come to the right place!

One word prompt is a newly founded club that sets out to help ignite that inspiration fuse. We will run regular challenges where you will be given a single word on which to create a piece of work. Your interpretation of the word can be as abstract or as literal as you like, whatever best suits our style.
We are open to all types of art; traditional, digital, photography, poetry/prose, whatever!

When the time to submit for each word has finished, all the submissions from each category (traditional art, photography, digital art, literature) will go up for the vote and the winners will be sumbmitted into the club’s gallery.
